Ferrari Owners Enchanted by India's Magic

In India, cows are revered and respected. Here the tour slows appropriately in conformity with local custom, ever mindful of the disparity in global modes of transportation.
It’s a natural combination; beautiful locations and beautiful cars.  Consequently, Ferrari regularly organizes spectacular press tours of Ferrari motorcars through some of the most exotic and breathtaking locations around the world.  This year the Ferrari Magic India Discovery Tour 2008 follows in the tradition of the China 15,000 Red Miles tour in 2005, the Pan-American 2000 tour in 2006 and the 60th Anniversary Around-the-World relay in 2007.

Magic India is touring two 612 Scagliettis over a 12-stage, 7,000-mile run  which began  Feb. 25 and will end  May 8 in Mumbai.  In addition to modern superhighways, the cars will endure many miles of overland driving, essentially stock Ferraris with the minor modification of aluminum plating to protect the undercarriage and, of course, the unique, decorative paint treatments.

Stages of the tour encompass some of the most spectacular and historic sites in India, including the Portuguese-settled city of Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ramosi, home of India’s fabled “Bollywood” film industry.

At the gateway to India's modern superhighway system, Ferraris must pay tolls just like everyone else.
After passing through Vizak on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, the 612 Scagliettis visit Kolkata (Calcutta), following the flow of the river Ganges to Varanasi and Khajuraho where visitors marvel at ancient Hindu and Jain temples.

Other sites include the “Golden City” of Lucknow, Corbett National Park and Tiger Reserve, New Delhi, Dharamsala and the Sikh cultural home, Amritsar.  Participants will then visit Jaipur, Agra (graced by the Taj Mahal), through Rajasthan, and finally back to Mumbai.

Our prancing stallions pose proudly before the Virupaksha Temple in Hampi, which dates back to the first century.
While in India, drivers will be under the watchful technical assistance of the Ferrari ally, Tata Motors, and with guests and dignitaries of the tour, will enjoy the elegant hospitality of Taj Hotels.

At the dockside in Kovalam-Kanniyakumari, fishermen and locals admire the artistry of the Italian craftsmanship, yet remain proud of the fact that many of Ferrari's top programmers were born and trained in India.
When traveling in exotic realms, one can never predict the reaction of the local residents to the sight of an exotic automobile of the first order.

Imagine the surprise of a Magic India participant, however, when greeted by two local residents, each of whom own 599 Fioranos and regal our visitor with tales of racing them on deserted desert highways!

It seems there is no place on earth that is not graced by a gathering of prancing ponies.
