2nd Ferrari Factory Auction at Maranello

Delivered new to Hollywood, California, 0923 GT is the third 250 GT LWB California Spyder produced. It remained in California until the late 1990s before finding its way to England.

Ferrari, in conjuntion with RM Auctions, a recognized leader in the investment-grade collector car market in North America (with annual sales of more than $200 million in 2006), joins with Sotheby's to offer several rare Ferraris at their second annual "Ferrari Leggenda e Passione" auction May 18 at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy.

Driven by the success of the first European auction at the Ferrari factory, RM and Sotheby's offer two rare and coveted 250 California Spyders--a 1958 LWB covered headlamp version (s/n 0923 GT) finished in classic Rosso red, and a 1961 SWB version (s/n 2377GT) with coachwork finished in original Nero black. Actor, James Coburn acquired this SWB shortly after making his mark as a performer in "The Magnificent Seven," costarring with fellow tifosi, Steve McQueen. Estimated gavel values range between $4 million and $6 million in US Dollars. The sale will include at least one Ferrari Enzo with a 660bhp V12 engine in a production run of only 399.

One of just 54 "Short Wheelbase" California Spyders, this example was sold new through Jacques Swaters' Garage Francorchamps before entering the collection of legendary Hollywood actor James Coburn.

Those interested in memorabilia as well as cars, will be delighted with the Ferrari Francorchamps Collection to be offered without reserve by Jacques Swaters, the renowned ex-Ferrari team manager and importer. This will be the first time the collection has been up for bids, presenting Ferrari aficionados a rare opportunity to purchase a part of automotive history. One of the highlights of the collection is the only four-door Ferrari ever produced-the prototype 1980 Ferrari Pinin which made its debut at the 1980 Turin Motor Show. A unique car, not only in its conception but also in Ferrari history, its sale is certain to attract the interest of discerning collectors worldwide.

While attending the auction in Maranello, you may also wish to participate in a Ferrari factory tour which, with other accommodations, may be booked in advance by contacting the Ferrari Concierge Call Center at 1-866-551-2828.
