George Avgerakis
Educated at the University of Maryland and London Film School, George began his media career in England as a post production script and editorial assistant on films for Robert Altman and Sidney Poitier. Returning to his native New Jersey, he formed Avekta as a sideline while he worked as an art director for BASF's flavor and fragrance subsidiary, as a producer for Grey Advertising and as Video Manager for Nabisco. At Nabisco, George created the first coproduction between a corporation and a public broadcasting station, gaining significant attention that led to congress allowing public broadcasting limited employment of commercials as fundraising devices.

With other metropolitan corporations inquiring about George's documentary capabilities, he left Nabisco and reconfigured Avekta as a full corporation under his new wife's management. Moving to New York, Avekta opened first at 2 Penn Plaza, then on Madison Avenue, expanding to serve a broader corporate client base. Adding animation, print, Internet and foreign translation services, George again broke new ground by producing the first American made situation comedy for Russia and other post-Soviet nations. A Contributing Editor of Videography Magazine, George has also lectured at universities in the US and Europe.
