Avekta Productions began in 1976 as a part-time interest of founder, George Avgerakis, while he began his career as a commercial producer for Grey Advertising. Later, while designing the corporate video studios at Nabisco, George created the first co-production between PBS and a corporation, influencing Congress to allow PBS to carry short sponsorship commercials. With other corporations requestiong similar work, George reconfigured Avekta in 1982 as a corporation dedicated to innovative uses for e-media.

In 1983 Avekta acquired 3D animation capability to serve the corporate video market. That year, Avekta's senior animator, Drew Fishman, created the "See & Learn" series of children's educational videos, selling over 1.2 million copies in Toys R Us alone.

Avekta's chief computer technologist, Alan Bleiweis, wrote the first Internet real estate search application in 1993, using Archie, before Windows and the advent of the World Wide Web.

The first infomercial for Russia (for a product that turned mud into concrete) was created by Avekta in 1997 and shortly thereafter, Avekta produced the first American-made sitcom ever seen in Russia.

In 1998, Avekta President, Maria Avgerakis, acquired Visual House International, New York's oldest language translation company, expanding our services to a global market.

Today, the firm serves clients worldwide in such varied industries as pharmaceutical, fashion, high tech, publishing, government, retail, real estate, beverage, broadcast, utilities, and political campaigns. And yet, the corporate culture remains one dedicated to a passionate desire for client delight. The staff remains small, prices are competitive and the service is mission critical.
